Hi. My name is Toby Zara.
I am developing this blog in order to market a series of children’s books I have written. They are aimed at 9 – 12 year olds. The central character is a feisty girl called Abigail Saltminder
Hi. Welcome to my blog. This is ‘photo of a ‘photo of me 50+ years ago.
I Googled ‘what to write in about me in a blog’ and it came back with over half a million million hits. Amazing: if each were a penny I’d be a zillionaire. I skimmed through a couple: the first said make it feel like a warm hug and the second informed me it should be the soul of my blog.
So here’s a hug. I’ll have to come back to you about the soul.
‘Abigail Saltminder’ is the central character in a series of short children’s books I have started writing and intend self-publishing on Amazon and other platforms. There will be 6 books, each of about 20,000 words. I have written the first two and am about a third of the way through the third. Together, the books form one continuous redemptive tale.
OK. Marketing is a huge topic. You can get a degree in it. There are high paid, prestigious jobs. So what am I doing, writing about it? Well, I may not know much about marketing but what the heck: as far as I can see, it’s not so much science as art. And, being art, is open to just about anyone to pitch in.
so here I go …
Yep, OK: this is more of a place holder for the moment and ‘doing it with Amazon’ is possibly the last thing in this immediate process.
Originally this post was titled: ‘Some does and don’ts‘. But I’ve just changed it to: ‘Perhaps some does and don’ts‘ because the more I get into this stuff, the more I know I don’t know, and writing a set of rules is a tad arrogant.
I have just had a look at what other writers do with their blogs.
Stuff I didn’t even dream was possible! Huge, convoluted websites with dozens of different ways to show you the data.
I have an analogue for you, which is how I think of the various bits ‘n bobs you need when starting a blog, or indeed any website, as a blog is no more than a particular form of website.
